About this pattern

Wifey is the Bride of Frankenstein. She was put together from parts long before it was a quilting technique.

When one of my makers, Lori, finished her Wifey, I wrote to tell her how much I loved it. She wrote back:

"I just picked colors and stuck things together, you did all the hard work."

That's the whole deal. I did the hard part. You pick colors and stick things together.

Wifey is a raw edge appliqué Halloween quilt pattern, so her pieces press down onto a background with no seams at all. She finishes at 18 inches, and nobody says you have to take her down on November 1.

Keep her hair classic black and white, or give it a color no 1935 movie studio would've signed off on. Hang her alone, or hang her next to Frank, her monster. (In the movie, she took one look at him and hissed. Maybe the quilt will go better.)

How it works

Not sure about appliqué? I've got you.

I’m a 70’s kid and loved paint-by-number projects. They made me feel like a real artist! With this pattern, I’ve tried to bring that same joy to quilting. And the best part? You can shop your stash, prints, solids, that weird fabric you bought at a retreat and you don’t know what to do with, and be confident with your choices.

Remember paint-by-number? Building this project is as easy as that. Every spot has a label, so you always know what goes where.

The "paint" palettes.

When I first started making quilting collages, I would lose track of which fabric went where…until I made for myself a way to track my fabrics. So when I started making patterns, I naturally wanted a place for YOU to do the same.

All the pieces you need, already mirrored, sorted by color, and ready for you to start creating. Simply press, cut, and match each piece to its place on the base. Done. (Yes. Seriously. It’s meant to be fast and fun!)
