About this pattern

I DIDN’T ASK TO BE A QUILT PATTERN. I ASKED TO BE THE ONLY QUILT PATTERN. WE COMPROMISED.

That’s The Princess. I made the first one as a gift for my swap partner, and she hasn’t stopped talking since.

She’s raw edge appliqué, so her pieces press down onto a background with no seams at all. She finishes at 20 inches, which she’ll tell you is too small.

Make her in the pinks she came with, or hand her a whole new wardrobe. Hang her alone. She’d prefer that anyway.

A few words from The Princess

  1. ON THE CROWN: IT’S ARCHITECTURAL.
  2. ON YOUR FABRIC CHOICES: I TRUST YOU. MOSTLY.
  3. ON THE DOG PATTERNS IN THIS SHOP: NO COMMENT.
  4. ON HANGING ON YOUR WALL: FINALLY, THE RECOGNITION I DESERVE.

How it works

Not sure about appliqué? I've got you.

I’m a 70’s kid and loved paint-by-number projects. They made me feel like a real artist! With this pattern, I’ve tried to bring that same joy to quilting. And the best part? You can shop your stash, prints, solids, that weird fabric you bought at a retreat and you don’t know what to do with, and be confident with your choices.

Remember paint-by-number? Building this project is as easy as that. Every spot has a label, so you always know what goes where.

The "paint" palettes.

When I first started making quilting collages, I would lose track of which fabric went where…until I made for myself a way to track my fabrics. So when I started making patterns, I naturally wanted a place for YOU to do the same.

All the pieces you need, already mirrored, sorted by color, and ready for you to start creating. Simply press, cut, and match each piece to its place on the base. Done. (Yes. Seriously. It’s meant to be fast and fun!)
