About this pattern

Holiday Sparkle is an ornament that will never roll under the couch and break.

It’s raw edge appliqué, so the pieces press down onto a background with no seams at all. It finishes at 18 inches.

The sparkle comes from where the lights and darks sit, and the grayscale base marks every one of them. So make it in the icy blue it started in, or in colors that never came in a box of tree ornaments. It still sparkles.

Hang it the day after Thanksgiving. It’s an ornament, so it’s allowed to stay up until somebody complains.

Skill level and techniques

Skill level: Confident beginner. If you ever hung tinsel one strand at a time because somebody was watching, you can do this.
Techniques used: Commando Appliqué (my take on raw edge appliqué)
Finished sizes: 18 x 18 inches
What you supply: Background fabric (18 x 18), fabric, batting, backing, thread, and a lightbox. The fabric kit format covers the subject only. With digital-only products, you supply the Lite Steam-a-Seam 2.
